03 / Uses

Portable Pod uses office, studio, gym, guest, B2B.

The same 18m² glass building works differently depending on who is using it and how it is set up.

01

Home office

The most common use. A dedicated workspace in the backyard, away from the house. Power, lighting, and floor are included. Tax-deductible for business owners.

02

Creative studio

Art, music, podcast, photography, or writing. The glass delivers consistent natural light and the space has full acoustic upgrade options available.

03

Home gym

18m² is enough for a squat rack, bench, and cardio equipment. Add a mirrored end wall and ceiling fan. No gym membership, no commute.

04

Guest room

Add a bathroom fitout and kitchenette for a self-contained guest suite or Airbnb pod. Privacy-tinted glass for the bedroom end.

05

Consulting room

Private practice for psychologists, physios, and allied health. Complete separation from the house maintains a clinical or professional environment.

06

B2B and commercial

Site offices, training rooms, NDIS facilities, and small-business overflow space. Linked configurations give up to 36m² for teams.

05 / Why Choose Us

Why choose Portable Pods.

Four things that set the Portable Pod apart from other portable building options in Australia.

01

Glass-first design

Most portable buildings use solid walls with small windows. We build around glass. Every standard pod has full double-laminated glazing along the long elevation. That is the starting point, not an upgrade.

02

Link and stack capability

The pod is engineered to connect to adjacent units. Most competitors only sell standalone. Start with one, add a second when you need more space. The first pod does not need to be modified.

03

Genuine flat-pack delivery

The entire kit ships in flat-pack crates via standard crane truck. That makes delivery to every Australian postcode practical and cost-effective without specialist transport.

04

Full kit inclusions

Lighting, power, flooring, doors, windows, insulation, all hardware. Nothing is sold separately that is required for a complete working office. The price you see is the price of a finished product.

07 / FAQ

Portable Pod questions.

Common questions from buyers new to the Portable Pod product.

  • A Portable Pod is a 6m x 3m glass freestanding office building made by Portable Pods Australia on the Sunshine Coast. It has a galvanised steel chassis, double-laminated glass walls, insulated panels, smart LED lighting, two double power outlets, and a vinyl floor. It ships flat-pack and assembles in 6 days. It is not a sleep pod, moving pod, or container office.
  • A traditional portable cabin uses a steel or fibreglass frame with solid walls and small punched windows. A Portable Pod uses a galvanised steel chassis with double-laminated glass along the full long elevation. The result is a fundamentally different interior experience: bright, connected to the garden, and architectural in appearance rather than industrial. Quality of materials and design intent are also different.
  • From $18,500 AUD for the standard single-pod kit, excluding transport. Delivery ranges from $400 in SE QLD to $7,500 for remote NT. A fully installed pod with partner-builder assembly typically costs $25,000 to $30,000. Finance is available from $1,541 per month over 12 months.
  • Any outdoor area with flat or levelable ground, access for a crane truck (3.2m wide path minimum), and connection to a mains power supply. Common installations include suburban backyards, rural properties, farm blocks, commercial sites, and remote locations. For residential installations, the pod needs a prepared pad, screw piles, or a concrete slab. Council approval requirements vary by state and use.
  • The galvanised steel chassis, double-laminated glass, and insulated composite panels are all designed for long service lives. With basic maintenance, a Portable Pod should last 20 to 30 years or more. The galvanised coating protects the steel from corrosion without painting. The glass does not degrade under UV. The insulated panels are pre-finished and do not require re-coating.
